Not really much examples on loudnorm since it's relatively new to ffmpeg, I've been using ffmpeg for 10 or so years. I am new to loudnorm however. How can I normalize audio using ffmpeg? I don't see a way to do it at all with a single and 2 pass?
If possible I'd like examples of these and not links to things. I can google links on my own and have for several weeks. There's no way to run a two-pass loudnorm filter automatically with just ffmpeg, but you can use the ffmpeg-normalize program to do it for you.

Some of those values have to be captured and fed to the filter in the 2nd pass. It cannot read them from a file like in 2-pass encodingso there isn't a counterpart to your encoding commands. You can combine first pass of x and loudnorm. Capture the loudnorm summary values, substitute them in 2nd pass command, which also does 2nd pass of x You don't need to write to a file in the first pass.

Be careful. Depending on the length of the asset and the content, you may not want to use a tool that dynamically adjusts to target loudness over the course of the asset. However, with short assets or when you are only playing back someone else's content, like commercials on a TV station, you should only do a simple level shift linear normalization to meet your target loudness.

I am taking an RTP stream and adding loudnorm and rebroadcasting it. When I took out the loudnorm filter, it seems to not be increasing slowly over time, or just a lot less. I need more time to verify it's not going up anymore. If it is, it's a lot slower and a lot less dramatic. Splitting the commandline. I'm in an office situation, so I need some time to test with a non-network stream. I could try non-rtp easily, but that's not what you asked for. I'm an ffmpeg noob and have no idea how to stream out a local mp3 file. I have no idea why both ffmpeg and vlc would have the same symptoms.
They both started rising up at the same time together, which is strange. Something fishy is going on Is an mp3 file required as input or is it also reproducible with -f lavfi -i sine? Is the issue also reproducible with only rtp output? Or only mpegts output? What about mpegts file output if this is about mpegts? Can confirm that this behaviour is present in ffmpeg 3.
Input format does not seem to make a difference, tried reading from a local Icecast AAC stream, a remote MP3 stream and even a local named pipe receiving WAV, all exhibiting the same behaviour.

However, when it comes to concatenating the files, the "cat" command returns a 0 byte file. Does anyone know how to concatenate the two files with ffmpeg?

The answer might seem obvious, but what confised me is that Robert Swain, on his x encoding guidegives some advice on 2-passes, and tells that for the first pass it is not necessary to encode the audio. Does that mean that the second solution I propose is the good one, or is it that Robert Swain omitted some part of the encoding that would transfer the audio?
Right now, the way I see it, you go from movie A to a movie B without audio, and it tells nothing in particular about recovering the sound and putting it back in movie C. If the second guess is the good one, and 2-passing means encoding movie A twice and having movie C at the output, can anyone tell me how it works concretely?P420i nvme
Does the pass 1 create a temporary file that will be used as a reference somehow in pass 2? Or does the pass 1 store information on the bitrate distribution and other things about the video that the pass 2 will recover and use?
